The traveler and historian Aelian Roman Macedonian fishermen had registered using the technique of fly fishing in the 2nd century. However, historians believe that this technique was around long before and it was just named by the Romans. The technique of using flies as bait to capture certain types of fish is giving the technique its name.

The Fly

The flies that today range from the simplest to the mechanical decoys. Some fishermen have made the flies of synthetic materials such as wool and plastic color. The wings of the fly, of wool or colored plastic attracts fish while the shape is constructed allows the fly to turn in the water while the fisherman pulls on the spool.

Although this was a profession in the 2nd century has become an elite sport over the years. The sport of fly fishing is very popular in Europe and America. People invest very high in fly fishing equipment including boats and pay to fly fishing trips to very distant parts of the world.
