Streamers Fly Fishing
What are the 4 must have flies in fly fishing for trout?

im a beginer fly fisherman and i love all kinds of fishing. i think i know the 4 top patterns for each type of flys ( dry flies, wet flys, nymphs, and streamers) but i would like to know what other people think. please send links and please i would like to see alot of personal favorite patterns.

I'm from Montana and tied professionally a million years ago when I was in high school. My pick Royal Wulff, Royal Humpy, Elk Hair Caddis, and any hopper pattern for dry flies. For wets, all you really need is an Emergent Sparkle Pupa. Nymphs: Hare's Ear, Prince, Pheasant Tail, and all three in bead head (I get extras here because I was short on the wets). Streamers: Wooly Bugger, Muddler Minnow, Muddler Marabou White and Black.

The most fun I've had is dragging a Yellow Marabou Muddler across the top of really high muddy water. The browns would come right of the bottom and smash it like you've never seen. Some would come two feet out of the water after it.

Learning the skills of fly fishing is not an easy sport for all anglers. It involves precise angle to reaching the target position of artificial flies. Fly fishing is almost a game for many, as fishermen are concerned challenged to capture many different species of fish with the use of the fly rod imitating insects to attract fish. The success of fisheries Fly depends on many factors and a new factor is the lure fly fishing. Imitating insects are attaching lures or flies in line of the plane to be thrown into the water. This imitation of the fly is able to attract the fish and possibly trap them and catch.

There are different types of fly fishing lures or flies and each are listed below

Wet fly this type of lure imitates aquatic insects below the water surface. Meaning This type of lure design is modeled on insects drowned.

Streamer Lures

This is a type of deception is a form of decoy fly drowned. This type is designed to imitate small fish that are eaten by larger fish.

Dry Fly

This type of deception designed to imitate the adult stage of many aquatic insects. The bait should be able to run on water surface gently to make near real close and insects that fall into the water such as beetles and ants.

Nymphs Lures

This lures imitate the form of aquatic insect larvae. This is a particular form of bait fly drowned.

Lures surface

They are also called bass poppers. This type of lure design mimics the frogs and mice. They are made of bright colors that attract big fish such as pike or bass especially when they are causing commotion due to water movements.

Lures or flies may be procured or may be self-made. Manufacture of artificial flies or lures is a skill and many fishermen are learning to make their own bait instead of buying on the market. They are up to the challenge of making the difficult, but the best flies to attract fish close to finally fall trap for him. Lures may be made from feathers, fur or light fabric and tied together with tie specially made for the manufacture of fly fishing flies. It are many books and videos offering step-by-step to make lures. Just follow them correctly to get the best bait to catch fish.

Fly Fishing Reels
I mixed up by so many Fishing Reels.Help!?

I heared so many fishing reels like spincast reel, spinning reel, surfcasting reel, jigging reel, big game reel/trolling reel, fly reel, baitcaster reel. What are the difference?I really wanna know the difference of the Jigging Reel and the Trolling Reel, baitcaster reel and the trolling reel.Does surfcasting reel the same with the spinning reel?I think the same reel with different fishing lures for different types of fishing,it will have different names,am I right?
Could someone list me all the lures, different lures for different fishing types?

These are your basic fishing reels:

Spinning reels or some times called open faced reels - a good all around reel. The correct size will handle most fish.

Spin cast reels or some times called closed faced reels - usually not as well built as spinning reels. A good choice for lite duty fishing like panfish. Most kids learn to cast with these reels because of ease of use.

Bait cast reels - designed to cast 3/8 oz. lures or heavier. A little harder to use but once mastered you can cast further and more accurate. A favorite of Pro bass fisherman.

Trolling reels - any reel can be used for trolling , often refered to as a level wind reel {similar to a bait cast reel} these reels can have a line counter on them which counts the amount of feet you have out.

Surf reels - can be either spinning or casting reels, the size to match the species you are fishing for.

Fly reels - a special reel to hold your fly line, different sizes or weight # to match you fly rods, these reels are made with and with out a drag.

There are two many lures to list, if you have a species you want to catch I can recommend some of my favorites.

Fly fishing is a very old method of fishing that is particularly effective for hauling in trout. Ponds, streams, rivers and lakes are best for trout. Fishing is tempting fly only when the artificial bait is made by tying flies, fur, wool, feathers, foam, or anything that can be made to look like a fly on a hook as bait. The best way to learn to tie flies is to talk to fishermen who have become experts in time or can attend a school of fly tying.
Dry fishing fly and wet fly fishing are the two forms of fly fishing. Dry fly fishing is the most familiar and is considered the classic form. Using the technique of dry fly fishing, the angler casts the fly upstream in the hope that the trout will rise up and bite the fly, as it passes overhead. The wet fly fishing is in fisheries below the water surface and can be divided into fishing lures true wet fly fishing and nymph fishing.
Fly-fishing in the U.S.. British Columbia and Alberta are also very popular.
The popularity of fly fishing has increased dramatically in recent years. It's definitely a fast sport growth and is easy to see why, it's relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding. In general, fishermen fly fishing sport in the most beautiful areas of world. The fly fishermen from around the world are known to have an ongoing love affair with their sport.
From fishing fly fishermen may have difficulty learning this sport. Probably the best place to learn is a fly fishing school or a fly fisherman who is willing to take as a student. There is also a excellent flight number of fishing camps on the Internet. The school you choose should teach the techniques, strategies, and tactics used in fly fishing.
Before arriving at any hipdeep water, you should learn about the various fish is casting, learn the basics of casting and how to read water, you want to know how to take care of your equipment and how to knot, and perhaps even want to learn a little about the hatches and entomology.
This sport is a source of long life of endless pleasure. You will live to feel the hairs on the back of your neck tingle as you watch a trout upstream in search of just the fly cast.

Canadian Fly Fishing

Up until a few years ago, I had no desire to compete in a fly fishing competition. "Why would I want to stress myself out doing something that I enjoy and that releases my stress?" I asked myself.  I enjoy wading down a river, casting to trout sipping dry flies off the surface, or watching wild birds flying to and from their nests. Of course, the experience of hooking and netting a fish is the best part of it, but it's not all there is to fly fishing, for me. I can go out and catch nothing all day, and still consider it a "good day."

So why would anyone consider, other than try to see who is "best," a fly fishing competition?

In 2006, I was asked by an acquaintance of mine to join his team that was competing in the Canadian Fly Fishing Championships that year. I was hesitant at first, but then decided that I would. It would be fun to go out on practice sessions with anglers I had never fished with before. I also thought I might have an advantage: The competition that year was being held on a river I considered my "home waters." I knew the river fairly well and I knew what flies had caught me fish in the past.  Boy, was I wrong!

As far as the final standings were concerned, I did not do well at all.  The atmosphere of competing was something so removed from my mind as far as fly fishing was concerned that I "blanked" (expression used when an angler catches no fish during a competition session) almost every session. I lost fish that I normally would have brought to the net. My casting was terrible. I simply wasn't used to the pressure of competing in a fly fishing competition. As far as any "home advantage, the anglers that eventually took medals in that competition were not from the area and had never fished that river before.

However, that experience also provided me with knowledge that I would not have gained if I had not competed. In a fly fishing competition that is sanctioned by the International Fly Fishing Federation (FIPS-Mouche) or by a national organization that is a member of FIPS-Mouche, the rules for competition are quite rigid - everything from barbless hooks, maximum size of beads on dressed flies, the distance between flies on a leader, and even how you fish from a boat (you must be seated at all times).

One of the most important things I learned was how to make best use of my time when fly fishing. Often, when fly fishing for leisure, we'll scratch our heads and wonder how to fish a particular fly, or even wonder at what fly to tie on our leaders when it doesn't appear there are any insects hatching off the water.  What depth should we fish?  When you have a competition session that is only 3 hours long and you don't get to choose the start and end time, you learn quickly that organization and time management can be just as important as any fishing or casting skills that you have. You learn how to make decisions quickly and get your fly into the water where it can catch fish.

In 2007, I again competed - this time, in Northern Alberta. It would be a type of angling I had done very little of previously - lake style fly fishing involving sitting in a row boat that is drifting with the wind.  Long rods and the use of a variety of types of lines were required.  And because there are two competitors per boat, good casting skills even in high winds are needed. No one wanted to return to shore after a session with their boat mate talking about how they took a fly to their head during one of your casts! So this provided me the opportunity to learn new fly fishing skills to fish in situations I'd never fished in before. These new skills definitely carry over into my leisure fly fishing and made me a better all round angler.

Although the competitions are competitive, there is also much camaraderie during the events. Knowledge between competitors is often shared and you'll find that the best competitors will even try to get you into some fish or give you some tips - as long as they are ahead of you, of course!  I made many new friends as a result of the competitions I entered.

If you want to seriously improve your fly fishing skills, don't discount the idea of competing once or twice a year.

Fly Fishing History

If you've heard of fly fishing, you do not know what it is, it is a style angling that has a history dating back to the time old. Fly fishing is a big difference to the fishing style we are used today, which uses a rod and reel, fly fishing goes in the water and attracts fish to bite using his expertise. The main difference fishing fly fishing style we are used is the lure and the method used by the fisherman and also the equipment fly fishing.

While fishing fly fishing equipment has a coil and a rod it works differently from the usual open spool reels. Fly rods are made of fiberglass or other type of fish you'll catch because fly rods are different lengths. Usually, a fisherman caught a fly for salmon or trout, but it can also be an effective way to capture other types of fish.

Another feature that has a fly rod is the kind of fishing line that is generally thicker compared to the other type of angling online.

Fly Rod is not only a major fly fishing equipment, but the weight, type and color of the artificial fly is also part of the art of fishing for fly fisherman. There are several types of flies, they are partially submerged bird flies floating surface and subsurface of each bird has its own way of casting.

Fly equipment Fishing generally can be expensive, but not all parts are expensive the most expensive part is the cane flying, flies and flights online are not. For people who have experience of fly fishing they can eventually make their own flies to use. When you Create your own plane, you can customize and most of all you can save lots of money. If you want to see how it feels to Fly the best way to do that is with the help of an expert and can also give you details on fly fishing equipment.

If you're the kind of person who loves adventure, loves to do things differently fly fishing is an activity very pleased to be involved in. Somehow fly fishing is an "old technique" which has been transmitted from generation to generation. Fly fishing is a hobby that can last forever with the knowledge and proper equipment.

Fly fishing is a specific type of fishing and therefore requires a specific type of tackle. But for those who are new to fishing may ask "what is it? "and what is the difference between them? The general idea of the difference is that different fish can be caught by the different instruments used. The more fish what is fly fishing and attributes involved.

The basic apparatus in fly fishing is the fly rod, fly line and fly line artificial and the fly reel. Each part of the front is of vital importance in its own way in catching fish. The cane is used to launch the flight line. Depending on the type of fish caught and the environment being fished lengths range from 7 to 10 feet. Normally, the rod is fiberglass and graphite, and in some cases bamboo. By using different materials, the rods are lighter, heavier, rigid or curved. Again rods are made of purpose that the expected demand.

The online part of fly fishing with fly front is a plastic coated line that can be found in many different styles of floating and sinking in a variety of thicknesses. They vary from color to color, in many cases are bright to attract the prey destined to be captured.

An important part of fly fishing is to deal with artificial flies. They are made by tying hair, feathers, skins and other natural materials Synthetic on a hook. In past natural flies were used however, in fisheries today against synthetics have proven far more popular. Depending the type of fish is caught and the environment in which fish different flies are needed. Artificial flies range of bright colors in order to excel, or colors dark, to match the environment.

The fly reel is an important attribute when one looks at fly fishing. The reel is used to hold the line fly fishing. The reel is the essential attribute when considering fly fishing. Depending on the catch depends entirely on the reel used. For larger fish reel becomes more of a necessity in the gears and thicker line is necessary. Whist for smaller fish of a manual reel can be used.

Until now, you can now see the necessary equipment to carry out and as you can see if they joined a small investment. This is why online shopping to do against fly-fishing, better financed. I found many websites that offer a wider selection at a lower price compared to department stores.

This brief article is clear to see that fly fishing is to deal with a fly rod, fly line and fly and finally a fly reel. All are designed and work in cohesion to fish may not be sure that with a normal rod, which is why fly fishing has the advantage that can not obtain under normal fishing.

Fly Fishing Outfitters
Where do I begin with fly fishing?

I really want to get into fly fishing. I have spin fished since I came out of the womb and never really gotten into casting flies. I have zero knowledge on it. I have zero gear and no idea where to start. I am going to attend a beginner's class at my local Orvis outfitter's store and I expect them to tell me a ton. I just can't wait for the class in a week. Anyway, any and all info welcome! I need some lists of rods and reels, line, and any other gear I should know about! Thanks!

Hello fellow fisherman. I was in the same boat you are in. I met a guy on a creek that i fish reguarly and i wasn't catching nothing on little rooster tails, and he walked by me with a stringer of brook trout. I asked him what he was using and he said a wet fly.to make a long story short we talked and he persuaded me to go get a fly rod. The gentleman at the fly store told me to buy a cheap combo deal, that way if i didnt like flyfishing i wouldn't be out a lot of money. when i was leaving the store his last words were "have patience is the key". I also bought books on how to cast and what flys to use. So the bottom line for you from me is
1.buy cheap rod
2.buy books on how to flyfish (very helpful
3.patience
4.use floating line and dry flies
5.if you love flyfishing then go buy a decent rod and reel combo.(i have 3 scott rods and i love them, 2-4weights 1-3weight)
6. tie your own flies if you want. i tie my own flies and i love doing it.
7. have fun doing it thats the main thing

I hope i helped you, good luck and good fishing.

Fly Fishing Report

Are you a fan of fly fishing wondering if you can catch crappie that way? Or maybe you are an avid crappie fisherman and want to know of new methods and techniques for catching these favorite fish. Either way, crappie fly fishing is becoming more and more popular and if you're interested, you can learn how to do it for yourself.

Crappie are some of the easiest and most popular fish to fish for in the United States. There are two main species: the white crappie and black crappie and both types are found in different parts of the country.

Time has brought us many new tools and techniques for catching crappie. There are also many new lures that work great at enticing the crappie to bite. Fly fishing is a great way to present your bait to the crappie and entice them to bite. It's smoother and less likely to scare the fish than other types of bait casting. If you like the idea of crappie fly fishing, you're going to need to learn to go about it the right way. Here are some tips and ideas to try to help you.

Preparing for Crappie Fly Fishing

Before you can play a fly fishing crappie trip, you need to have the proper supplies. If you don't already know how to fly fish or have a fly fishing rod, you're going to want to take some time to try to learn this first. Get some lessons, practice on your lawn or whatever you need to do to get in the groove before heading out on a crappie fishing trip. Once you feel confident enough to try fishing in the real waters, you need to pack your tackle and supplies. You also need to learn about the area you are fishing at. Here are some ways to prepare.

So how can you get ready for a crappie fly fishing trip? Just like any other crappie fishing trip, you need to prepare by learning as much as possible about where you will be going and the weather and more. You can get fishing reports of the lake or body of water you are fishing in if possible to help you prepare. If you've been to the body of water before it will help you plan for the best spots to try some fishing. Crappie fly fishing is different from deep water crappie fishing so you need to try to go at a time and season when the crappie will be fishing essentials to the list but this is a great place to start.
Crappie fly fishing is probably most easily done in the spring when the crappie are spawning and easily biting and when you can wade in the water at comfortable temperatures for you.

Techniques for Crappie Fly Fishing

If you're going fly fishing for crappie, you need to know the proper techniques to help you reel them in every time. The unique thing about a fly rod is that it allows you more opportunity to gently place the bait where you want it so that it does not upset or startle the fish.
