Carp Fly Fishing
About Florida carp fishing?
Tomorrow we'll be flying to Sarasota Florida. There is a very large pond behind where we'll be staying. There are many of what I believe to be carp in the shallows , They look to be about two to three pounds. I'm going to try my luck at catching some of these carp but I'm from Wisconsin and I'm not sure that the carp fishing bait used around here will be as effective down south so could somebody please recommend the best live bait that I'm most likely to hook them on?
Live bait isn't going to work for Carp. Fix up some sorta sweet concoction, or just use plain bread or corn. I use peanut butter, bread, cinnamon, & maple syrup in my dough bait and it works great. Just finished catching a 6-lb. Carp on it today. Sticks on the hook good too, just use a #2 or #4 Eagle Claw bait holder or something similar. Bread will stick too.
Use no weight or a teeny tiny split shot, it's all you need for shallow Carp. Those 2-3 lb. Use 8- or 10-pound test and a medium-action casting or spinning combo.

Across the United States there are many beautiful places, exciting, they are excellent or fly fishing. The following article highlights only some of them.
Sitka, Alaska is a major stopover for salmon heading to British Columbia, Washington and Alaska waters. Fly fishermen at Sitka, have a higher rate of fishing than any other marine area in Southeast Alaska. June is the best month for fishing this area.
The Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona, is one of the best places for fly fishing for rainbow trout. The fish are comfortable all year round in a 15-mile stretch of cold water flowing from the depths of Lake Powell between Glen Canyon Dam and the upper end of the Grand Canyon. Fly fishermen can also book a guide and go flats fishing for carp of 25 pounds.
Fly fishing in saltwater is at its best at Montauk Point, New York. Montauk Point is the easternmost point of Long Island and is best known for striper fishing. Fishermen fly has miles of beautiful coastline where you can issue your flight.
Gunpowder Falls, Maryland, is an excellent place to fish for trout in cold water. The agreement by the Maryland state authorities and Trout Unlimited to start cold water release from Pretty Boy Dam. This has resulted in a combination of wild and stocked brook brown and rainbow trout. Most of that is in the powder Falls State Park.
Fishing Creek, Pennsylvania, is one of the leading states wild rivers trout. Usually stays cool in summer. There is a period of five miles stretch called Angostura, near Lamar, that is a very popular area for fishing fly.
Driftless Area, Wisconsin, has many excellent fly fishing streams loaded with brown trout. There is excellent access to the southwestern Wisconsin in eight counties. There are 68 streams in Vernon County alone, including Kickapoo River and Timber Coulee Creek. Most fly fishermen in this area use the mayfly imitations and caddies.
Laguna Madre, Texas, is full of rivers and lakes that are excellent. Texas also has its southern coast, which is a saltwater world's largest fly fishing. The saltwater flats of Laguna Madre, near South Padre Island, are full of all kinds of fish that make a great experience.
Henry Fork, Idaho is a great destination for rainbow trout. If you are fishing the Island Park area, it is best to fish in runoff conditions.
Lake CW McConaughy, Nebraska, is the largest lake in the state and also has some of the best fly fishing. Another excellent place in Fremont, Nebraska, is the Lagos State Recreation Area, which is a series of twenty lakes of sand that have been carved into the Platte River basin. Red Willow reservoir is also a favorite of fly fishermen in this area of the country.
Kauai, Hawaii, is an ideal place for fishing large mouth, small mouth, and peacock bass. This island also has excellent garden water fly fishing salt.
