Bolstad River Photo by Hampus Thore

Mvh

New toys on the way home again

The Wi-Fi enabled HERO3: Black Edition is the most advanced GoPro, ever. No expense was spared during its development, resulting in a GoPro that is 30% smaller, 25% lighter and 2x more powerful than previous models. Wearable and gear mountable, waterproof to 197' (60m), capable of capturing ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps and 720p 120 fps video and 12MP photos at a rate of 30 photos per second, the HERO3: Black Edition is the world's most versatile camera. Built-in Wi-Fi, GoPro App compatibility and the included Wi-Fi Remote (normally a separate $79.99 accessory) make the HERO3: Black Edition all the more versatile, still.

Weighing in at a scant 2.6 ounces, the HERO3: Black Edition is 25% lighter and 30% smaller than previous models.

The HERO3: Black Edition captures professional, cinema-quality video at 2X the resolution and 2X the frame-rate of previous models while delivering 2X better low light performance. Slow-motion aficionados and industry professionals will love the HERO3: Black Edition's 1080p-60, 720p-120, WVGA-240, 960p-100 and 1440p-48 video modes while those desiring a cinematic look will appreciate the ultra-high resolution 2.7kp-24 and 4kp-12 (Protune only) video modes.

The HERO3: Black Edition's photo performance is 3X improved, now boasting 12MP burst capture at a staggering 30 frames per second with 2X better low light performance compared to previous models. Still Photo and Time-lapse Photo modes remain the same but are now joined by a new Continuous Photo mode that captures continuous 12MP stills at a steady 3, 5, or 10 photo-per-second rate, up to 30 photos at a time.

The HERO3's reduced-distortion, 6-element aspherical lens combines with user-selectable Ultra-wide, Medium and Narrow field-of-views to deliver more perspective-capture options than ever before. Add the totally updated flat-lens waterproof housing that delivers stunning image sharpness both above and below water and you've got one of the most powerful and durable image capture solutions on the planet.

Understanding that sound quality is as important as image quality, GoPro engineers completely redesigned the HERO3 to be as adept at capturing the subtle, natural sounds of voice and music as it is at capturing the immersive sounds of sport. Also improved is GoPro's already famous wind-noise reduction, ensuring that you'll hear more of your passion, be it your engine or expletives, and less of the wind during high speed activities.

The HERO3 Black Edition features built-in Wi-Fi and includes GoPro's Wi-Fi Remote accessory. The Wi-Fi Remote is normally available as a $79.99 accessory but is included with the HERO3: Black Edition. The Wi-Fi Remote is waterproof, wearable and can control up to 50 Wi-Fi-enabled GoPros at a time from a range of 600'. The HERO3's built in Wi-Fi means it can also be controlled by iOS or Android smartphones and tablets running the GoPro App. The GoPro App enables full camera control and live scene preview on any compatible iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

The HERO3: Black Edition is compatible with all GoPro mounting accessories and older generation BacPacs™ along with the newer generation LCD Touch BacPac and 2nd generation Battery BacPac. However, as all HERO3 cameras have a new size and shape they require HERO3-specific Wrist, Skeleton and 3D housings so be sure to check for HERO3 compatibility when purchasing any new housing accessories.

What's included:
• HERO3: Black Edition Camera
• 197'/ 60m Waterproof Housing*
• Wi-Fi Remote + Key Ring
• Remote Charging Cable
• Rechargeable Li-ion Battery
• QR Buckle
• J-Hook Buckle
• 3-Way Pivot
• 1 Curved Adhesive Mount
• 1 Flat Adhesive Mount
• Assorted Mounts and Hardware
• USB Charging Cable

Hi Thomas,

I saw the photograph you put on your Facebook page of Ian Murray playing his fiddle on the River Dee. The photograph was 'shared' on another Facebook page. We like it very much, and would like to print it somewhere in the magazine. If this is OK with you would you send a high-resolution copy of the photograph to my e-mail address?

Many thanks Thomas, and we hope you have a great time on the Dee.

Måltider enligt program ovan (F = Frukost, L = Lunch, M = Middag).

Pris 39 800:- / person inklusive flygplatsavgifter/-skatter.

I am very moved when I read what Trond writes about his brother, calling Trond immediately after I have read what he writes and asks if I can translate it into English. The idea behind this is to get it out to the rest of the world where Knut has as many supporters at home in Scandinavia. For me personally it was an easy choice to deposit funds into Knut's account, hoping that many of you out there doing the same.

Knut Syrstad Relief Fund
Sitting on the sofa and think back to the salmon I took tonight. Fresh, nice and big and heavy, and I know how happy I am to have the opportunity to experience this again and again. At the same time I become more and more aware that there is something very important is missing, namely to be able to rejoice over salmon catches along with twin brother Knut.
When we started to fish for salmon in the Orkla for over 30 years, was Knut there with me every single time and it was just very rare that we have not shared these experiences. Now it is unfortunately more and more rare that I get to see Knut in the river and I'm beginning to understand that it might not be so much more time with him again. Knut is in fact terminally ill and I am completely desperate.
In Norway, there exists no treatment that can make Knut fresh, and all doctors can offer, or any treatment that can alleviate the worst symptoms.
In the spring of 2004, created a fund and a fund-raising campaign was initiated for Knut in several countries. The idea behind this was to have made possible a possible treatment abroad, first and foremost in the United States. An incredible generosity resulted in a lot of money came in, and it was touching to directly experience the enormous commitment that was shown in connection with this.
The treatment was started in Norway, however, proved to work better than initially expected, and a year later Knut recovered from the disease. The money had been received, was given to the leading cancer center in testicular cancer in the United States, with dr.Einhorn in the lead.
Six years later, and after three relapses, was Knut, as the first ever in Norway, try a completely new and experimental cure developed recently by Dr. Einhorn and his team in Indiapolis. Knut helped cure to beat the cancer back for a while, but the symptoms came back sadly, and shortly afterwards the noted new relapses and now with zero chance of healing.
As a twin brother, I am powerless witness to that Knut is idling, waiting to die! The fix I can no longer, and it is clear to me that I now just have to try everything I can in a desperate attempt to help my brother. Most important is that Knut is now not just give up, and he is now in a situation where I think he must try what can be attempted, and then also the treatment that extends beyond conventional medicine in both home and abroad. Knut has previously been very skeptical about this, as he had klokketro the treatment he has been offered here in Norway. He has continued, but is also much more open to "look around," and is aware that it is time to put all prejudices aside and try other options.
To do this requires money. Money that neither the Knut and I have now, and this is a cry for help from me to you so that I might have helped my brother.
All contributions are greatly appreciated and will be welcome received and really noticed. Unless otherwise requested, all contributions will be treated anonymously.
Knut understands and is aware that I do this.
Contributions can be traced to the HARSTAD SPAREBANK, Knut Syrstad Relief Fund.

Good to know how to act because there are some who have my pictures in their newspaper articles without asking for permission and used on another website than mine. In short, you ask first before you use someone else's material.

The Supreme Court in Sweden has made decisions that have significant impact on copyright law in Sweden.
Perhaps the most important is that a Swedish author can sue a Swedish court even if the copyright infringement took place abroad.
The goal of Supreme Court taken a position in a picture of singer Kicki Danielsson as without the photographer's knowledge was sold to a Norwegian company that published it on his website. The district court and court of appeal lost photographer but Supreme Court has come to a different position.

NORDISK MESTERSKAP I C&R 2012 – ATLANTISK LAKS

(Vaihda yksi lohi ja voita upeita palkintoja sponsoroi Guideline!)
Innmelding via:
https://www.facebook.com/reddvillaksen.no/app_202026543155328
Alternativt send e-post til: kontakt@reddvillaksen.no
Konkurransen deles inn i følgende klasser:
1. STØRSTE HUNNFISK SATT UT
10.000 kroner i fritt valg av Guideline utstyr
2 døgns fiske for 2 stenger i Berby elva 2013 + 2 overnattinger med selvhusholdning på Berby Gård, guide første fiskedag
2. STØRSTE FISK SATT UT UANSETT KJØNN
5000 kroner i fritt valg av Guideline utstyr

Got a couple of really nice pictures from a fishing friend Holger Kurth taken on hembregård in Stjördal, plus he caught a real mood full time . Good thing it's not long to go before I'm going there myself, otherwise desire become unbearable. Me and my father John Eric and Kent ström will be fishing here on Hembre week 27, will report from here daily with pictures and movies. If you read this Mattias Olsson, I can reassure you that Thomas ström will not be with us this week, so you'll have your quiet family weeks after all. But happiest is probably plåt Niklas, what do you think ? who knows what I mean ?

Hembre gård have had a fantastic start to the season so far

Completely magical atmosphere 1 hour before opening start

Beryelva Photo Thomas Thore

Here at the clubhouse is there is full activity for fishing start in a few hours. Some set up their rods while others sit and have a beer or whiskey, others go to bed to be rested for the next day. Many cars are coming and people are talking everywhere about the incredible water level and how much fish has been seen on the river last week, it's not often you are faced with this fact, that there is nothing that is negative. At least not for salmon fishing after that it always be something to blame, but not here in Berbyelva right now anyway

Tying flies at full speed for tomorrow's premiere of Berby River. In exactly one day I sit enjoying a good whiskey with good friends, the start is at 2400 tomorrow night.
Unfortunately, my good friend Nils Ottersen  not to attend, had income sms from him earlier tonight he will not be home from his fishing in Cuba because of problems with air travel.

He will fly first on Thursday to Norway, but there are many worse places to stay on than Havana.
But we will meet on Friday night instead, when  also Lennart Bergqvist will join us.

Jiiieeehhhhhaaaaaaaa!!

I've been invited to fish in Berby River at the premiere May 23 and they next few days with my good fishing friend Nils Ottersen from Halden.

Should the same time documenting this premiere with all participants in the form of pictures, movies and stories from people on the site and of course my own experiences from those days.

I have not fished here since 2004, when I was here with Kent Ström and Henrik Hoobik

Berby River Photo Thomas Thore

Enningdal (Berby River) is the name of the 13 km long river stretch between the sea Bullaren in Sweden and Iddefjorden in Halden municipality. For fishing enthusiasts are Enningdal known as a great salmon river, salmon with a record of 17.7 kg and average weight of 4.5 kg. The river fishing opens on 23 May and the fishing ends August 15. AJFF Halden manage and cultivate the river. They have done with enthusiasm since 1986.

Renegotiation of iddefjordskonvensjonen meant that the new rules apply from 2010. Sport fishing in the river has been shortened by one week, starting now 23 May. Net fishing in Iddefjorden starts a week before May 16 and end on 15 August, along with sport fishing. Compared with Norway in general, then fished it 3 times as long as the yarn cross-fjord Iddefjorden. This is a result of negotiations with the Swedish authorities.

Would you like to learn more about this little river, and they great big salmon that swim here, please click here

Enningdalsvassdraget is one of very few major salmon rivers in southeastern Norway. Watershed, much of its original natural watercourse intact and has an early migratory salmon population who are moderately affected by outside influences. Enningdal is the sydøstligste salmon rivers and the border is managed in cooperation with Sweden.
Enningdal have their sources in the northern Boksjø-tracts in Aremark, Halden and Dals Ed (Sweden), following the border in Southern Boksjø, Hallerødelva, North Kornsjø, go through Mellan-Kornsjön, Southern Kornsjön, preach älv and Bullaresjöene in Sweden, angles north and go about 1 mil in Idd as Enningdal / Berby River. The river has 1/3 of the catchment area in Østfold and 2/3 in Dalsland / Bohuslän. North and South Boksjø are the main lakes of the upper river. The main page includes Ørsjøen river. This page waterway joins Enningdal about 1 km before it flows into Iddefjorden. Elja is a branch west of the northern Kornsjø that runs along the main river near the mouths of Bullaresjøen close to the border to Sweden. Bright Water and Upper Elgvatn belong to this sidegreinen.

Berby River Photo Thomas Thore

The river is characterized by the pond and slowly flowing - elsewhere rapids and small waterfalls. The most important spawning areas for salmon in the river bottom (northern) parts between Berby Mjølnerød farm and waterfall, a distance of 5 km.
Watershed is a relatively large lavlandsvassdrag, 70 km long river, with river basin 780 km2, and mean flow about 11 m3/sec. The catchment area is dominated by coniferous forest 70%, water 11%, 11% marsh and arable land 8%. According to NVE's water register has 60 river lakes larger than 1.2 ha, with a total area of 29,146 square kilometers. Most lakes on the Norwegian side is located between 120-220 m Length of natural salmon distance: 29 km
(Including 15 km on the Swedish side) Norwegian side: the main string 13 km, tributary Ørbekken 0.6 km
Sweden: Northern Bullaresjø 8 km. Långevallsãlven 1 km. Southern Bullaresjø: 6 km. Proclaim the river 0.3 km
Enningdal (Berby River) outlet forms a large, shallow estuarine area on the border with Sweden. The landscape has "Western touch" with relatively steep hillsides, with heights show 200 meters at the mouth. River follows the fault, which runs south - north, from Bullaren in Sweden - via Enningdalen and further north Iddefjorden to Halden city.

Now settled Baltic salmon's future.
You can make a difference.
During the year, the EU will decide on a new management plan for Baltic salmon. The contents of laxplanen is essential for the salmon future. Participate in the petition and send a letter to Marek Gróbarczyk from Poland who is responsible for Fisheries Committee opinion on laxplanen. In this letter, we demand that the EU will stop all commercial maritime fishing for salmon to wild salmon can return to their home rivers. Click on the image to sign or here

Subject: The Multiannual plan for the Baltic salmon stock and fisheries – Phase out the offshore fishery

Dear MEP, Marek Gróbarczyk, Rapporteur of OPINION of the Committee on Fisheries on the Multiannual plan for the Baltic salmon stock and fisheries

I am writing to you concerning the European Union's plan for a new multiannual plan for the Baltic Salmon stock and fisheries.

I am sure you are aware of but I would like to reiterate the following. Baltic salmon consists of several different populations that originate from over 33 different river systems. The majority of these river populations are very weak or threatened e.g. only 58 spawning salmon were counted at the Swedish Åby river system and 13 fish in the Rickle river during the 2011 season. The present management system allows for a fishery on mixed salmon stocks at sea and thereby threatens survival of our weakest Baltic salmon populations. The creation of a new Baltic salmon management plan gives a unique opportunity to form a sustainable, economically sound and just system that allows the countries of the Baltic region to fully unleash the potential for development that this unique resource salmon gives.

I believe that salmon should be allowed to return to their natal river systems for reproduction and small scale utilization based upon each river stocks specific capacity. This would allow for conservation of weak stocks and creation of a modern sustainable utilization of the salmon resource.

Phase out the commercial open sea fishery on mixed stocks of Baltic Sea salmon.

Yours faithfully,
(Your name)

Please help us all anglers and nature lovers, by writing this.

A passion for change

It is now expected that the declines of salmon and sea trout in the Mörrumsån will continue well into 2016. Even if the river managers and Karlshamn commune decide to finally implement counter measures to combat the ever increasing declines. We can hope that the neglect, inactivity and "mind set" will change. As the negativity for the concept of change will have dire consequences for the river well past the year 2016. Without change, the situation will only get worse while good people stand idly by and do nothing. All of which is preventable, if the fundamental changes take place now without further delay.

There are now, proactive people, NGO's and the EU commission of fisheries, who are now attempting to implement counter measures to prevent the declines to the Baltic salmon and sea trout from getting any worse. However, even when the Swedish board of fisheries (HAV) advocate legislation for 2012 with a stop to commercial fishing in some areas of the Baltic Sea.....which still has to be passed by the Swedish Government and still allows river estuary nets to continue fishing. However in essence, the board of fisheries states at the same time, that all of which, will take up to ten years to implement and see positive results.

Many experienced and concerned sport fishing personalities have proposed good and well structured proposals that would help the prevailing situation with the Mörrumsån. These recommendations and proposals are based on their experiences from other rivers that have had the same kind of problems, however, in these cases with successful results. Positive counter measures to the declines of salmon and sea trout to the river would be; compulsory catch and release of all salmon and sea trout until there is positive signs that both species are once again a sustainable resource. A complete stop to the estuary net fishing, as it now seems that these estuary fishermen have no concerns for the river whatsoever, and continue to still net up to 2000 salmon and sea trout per year

After many years of talk, rhetoric and inactivity.......two conferences, one in 2009 and 2011......nothing has been achieved. Other than the situation getting worse and Sveaskog refusing to take the initiative to implement positive and fundamental changes. Many, myself included, have finally come to terms, that the emotive issues we have for the river, have to be stripped out, to finally see the real picture as it is. And in that perspective, it does not look good at all.

No matter what takes place, the public sector company Sveaskog as a Swedish Government company is tasked with the mandate, to effectively manage the Governments commercial resources. But in the case of the Mörrumsån, and from a business prospective, the management of the fishery has failed in addressing the major outstanding issues in a timely and prudent manner. In the business sense, and viewed as "due diligence" the fishery is now being mismanaged, and because of gross neglect, Sveaskog have failed to recognize what it will take to turn around the fishery, and prevent a further corrosion of its brand name, declines of real values in the money spent fishing the river with no positive end in sight. The conclusion would be, that the fishery will decline into a terminal situation without a clear and workable strategy in-place. Many have stopped fishing the river, with those that were the real ambassadors for the river leaving and not returning...frustrated, disappointed and with negative thoughts as to the future of the fishery. This continues situation will ultimately have dire commercial effects on the local community at large, that rely on the revenues generated from the sport fishermen that fish the river.

There should be real value in all of this, but sadly that is not the case. The general consensus now, is that the only alternative is to change out the managers of the river at a corporate level. And based on what we have heard in the past..........half truths, disingenuous statements about good intention people who care for what is happening, and without a doubt, a total disregard for the customers. One can only come to the conclusion, that Sveaskog must now turn to another more competent company to set the "benchmarks" and manage the river more effectively than Sveaskog have done in the past.......... before it's too late.

A very happy little guy, Dad has booked salmon fishing this summer as I can go on again

Photo Thomas Thore

Some old pictures from the good old days, has so much wonderful memories of Hembre Gard with my friends and not least in Kent, Thomas, Thesslund, Stenis, Fat Karlsson, Inger Hembre mm.
I could fill an entire book without further only with the family Ström and all the nonsense that we have found at.

Would appreciate it if as many people as possible take the time to read through the text below, and take a moment of reflection.

Text by Jonas Nordigårds - www.edgeflyfishing.com

Catch and Release is a concept followed by us a long time and who has been an increasingly strong impact on how we choose to care for our sport fishing waters. Many waters with heavy fishing pressure or restricted stock has been a Renaissance, thanks to a widespread and well-run C & R fishing. The only problem with catch and release is that it is best applied among pure anglers and it is difficult to obtain such subsistence fishers, recreational anglers and commercial fishermen to support an extensive C & R fish when alternative fishing techniques can make the release impossible.

During the fall, signed and Nicolas Jändel at All About Fly Fishing and Lars Terkildsen on Fish Shop All Fly in Mörrum discussed a new concept which we think complement C & R, which is much easier for all those who use the fishery resource to support. The expression we want to push on and that we have chosen to give a broader definition is Limit your Kill.

The term Limit your Kill stands for an approach to fishing, which means that we anglers take our responsibility for fish resources. Precedes us by example while we build a better footing as we work to influence other actors as subsistence fishers, recreational anglers, commercial fishermen and authorities. All parties need to agree and follow the good example Limit your Kill stands for so that together we help each other to re-create the most viable fishery resource as possible.

In practice Limit your Kill to:

Limit its collection of edible fish and fish with a focus on a sustainable angling. It does not take up more food fish in an ecosystem than to a fish population can be considered minimally affected by the socket. It also selects the extent possible the fish are taken up. Really big and well adault individuals of each species carries a strong genetic base that we should seek to preserve and that it is the fish which gives most juveniles at play.

River Dee Photo Thomas Thore

Bring your family or friends to London one weekend and take the opportunity and support your favorite river.

River Dee

If you feel that you have not had time to bid on all the amazing things on the River Dee Trust auction.

Why not bring your wife to London for a weekend and take the opportunity to bid at the same time, this ought to be double happiness.

Or conversely, it may be that it is the man in the relationship who likes to shop and it is the woman who fishes.

Anyway, do not miss the River Dee Trust auction

our final event in London on the evening of Thursday 1st March 2012 where all lots will "go under the hammer".

Our London event is being held at the Savile Club, 69 Brook St, Mayfair, W1K 4ER from 6.30 to 8 pm. Attendance is free and there will be a supply of whisky and canapés as well as a guest speaker.

All we request is that you let us know if you will be attending prior to the event (please inform the River Office, 013398 80411, info@riverdee.org by Friday 24th February). However, if you cannot make the event you can still bid on a lot by placing a telephone bid on the evening or by sending us a sealed bid (see brochure for further information).

Jiiiiiha have pre-booked nikon d4, comes at the end of February

I korthet

Video

D4 skall börja levereras redan sent i februari.
