Will a polaroid lens on my SLR digital camera eliminate the reflections when I take pictures through a window?

I like to take pictures of the birds that eat at my feeder through the window, but the reflection on the photos usually spoils the picture. I've heard you can take clear pictures of fish in water with a polaroid lens, and I was wondering if it worked the same way for reflections on glass. Does anyone know?

Also, is there any way to make it, (besides being stealthy in my movements), so that the birds don't fly away when they see my through the window?
