What color hackle is best for Trout?

I'm thinking about making some fly's. In your opinion, what color would be best for Steelhead or Rainbow Trout?

I like white, chartreuse or black. I am not a fly fisherman, but the rooster tails i use for trout have a hackle tail on them so i am guessing these two situations are similar!
