Fly fishing fly help---what fly should I use?

So I'm going to my friends house tomorrow to do some fly fishing for basically the very first time. My brother and father just now got into fly fishing after doing regular fishing for their entire lives (my dad even went pro in bass fishing) and I think I have caught the fever as well. My dad bought me a rod and reel for Christmas so i'm super excited to start learning. I have the cast, knots, timing, etc. down pretty well. But I do need some help on fly selection.

you will want a bead head fly preferably a bigger fly. use streamers, it will be easier for the fish to pick them up in the winter, and let sink as deep as your leader will allow it, and work its slow. woorly buggers, mudler minnows, are my favorite streamers, but any streamer will work.

talk to your dad about fishing for bass in cold water, you want a bigger bait, and work it slower. if it is sunny the trout will be closer to the bottom, but if it is overcast, they will be closer to the top. and if you see them rising dont be afraid to throw a dry fly at them.

Fly fishing for bass is one of the most exciting sport fishing in the world. The mouths of big fish is probably the most sought sport fish in the world. This could be due to the wide dissemination of this fish in all that freshwater organisms that makes largemouth bass the popular game it is. The bass fishing attracts fishermen from large distant places such as southern Canada, South America and places between both. Question about Fly Fishing?

I have a pool i have not used in my garage i tried to unreel the spool to let out the line "for some air" and i noticed after the floating line it was tied to some kind of string that looked kind of like kite string. Is that normal? Whats its purpose? Seems pretty weak. Also just to make sure i got this right. The line attaches to the leader and the leader attaches to the Tippet and the tippet to the Fly?
Oh and what is the tippet made out of and does anyone have a recommendation for a good one for Bass fishing to Pan Fishing? Thanks!

The Kite string that your talking about is called fly line backing. This is attached to the back end of the fly line generally with a nail knot.

The purpose of the backing is to one fill the reel up since the fly line is generally around 80-100 feet long and will not completely fill up the fly reel. Having the backing on the fly reel helps keep the fly line from developing memory (coils) so that you can cast and manage your line easier.

Since your fly line is not very long, you generally have anywhere from 50-125 yards of backing on your reel in case you get a fish on your line that takes a very long run. If your fly fishing for saltwater species you may have as much as 350+ yards of fly line backing on your reel to ensure the fish does not spool you.

Backing is attached to your fly line, where the butt section of your leader is attached to the front of your fly line. Most fly fisherman fish with pre-tapered leaders that are either made out of monofilament fishing line or fluorocarbon line. New tapered leaders that come out of a package generally have 24" of tippet, which is the last portion of the leader. You'll notice that the leader is very thick at the butt section and tapers down to a smaller diameter at the tippet section of the leader. This is the section that you attach your fly too.

Content vs. Intent / Is Attraction Marketing Dead?

Attraction marketing relies on a process of reeling in followers based on the effectiveness of the bait. Perhaps we need to consider the quality of the information we are using to cast into the sea prospects as well as our techniques. Continuing, for a moment, with the fishing theme, not all fly fishermen are created equal. They may use the same bait but some know how cast and some don't. Some fishermen catch their limit and others limit their catch.

The answer we are looking for may not be found in the content of the free information as much as the integrity of the source. I believe that the answer is based on a well defined purpose of the messenger. Does the messenger have a fundamental intent to genuinely make a difference in the life of the subscriber? Think of this as a catch and release program. We can catch em, eat em and throw away the bones or we can catch em, and release em, to prosper and do good things.

It all comes back to the old saying "I don't care what you know until I know you care." The "something for nothing" message wears a little thin once reality hits and you find yourself with more expense than income. Hype is available in abundance. What people are seeking is hope not hype.

I don't personally see any great problem with the concept of "Attraction Marketing." The approach may vary as the market evolves; however, anyone in business is looking to attract consumers. So the question is "What do you have to offer beyond the bait?"

There is a lot of information that can provide a track to run on. Some of the information is packaged in newsletters or ezines, or manuals or in random articles. We all want good, current information. More importantly, we need a viable source of information backed by someone that can effectively support the application of what we have learned.

There is a concept floating around that suggests that all we need is to keep reselling the same information until the consumers get the picture and begin using the information. It is perfectly valid to recognize that there will always be those individuals who never advance beyond the consumer stage. For the "Treadmill Consumer" there will never be enough content regardless of the quality.

There are two things required to get people off of the treadmill and on the desired path. The first thing is a motivated commitment to do whatever it takes to get it done. The second requirement is the mentor who can provide the model for taking action. It is useless to gather tons of information with no action. On the other hand minimal information with action and purpose can produce great things.

If we are going to be in the "Attraction" business we need to provide some genuine mentorship to those who make the connection. This is where personal substance kicks in. If all you have done is gather and redistribute information, you may be in trouble. If, however, you have established personal purpose and integrity that others can trust, then you can earn the right to lead others.

It is not enough to have products and opportunities to sell. Lord knows there is no shortage of "stuff" for any and all consumers. What we need is people, who are willing to put themselves on the line, take their eyes off of themselves and focus on the needs of those whom we can serve.

Caution: There will always be those individuals who will suck the life out of you if you let them. You will never build an effective network made up of unmotivated followers. To be clear, I'm not knocking those who choose to follow. In fact we need followers. I am specifically referring to the requirements to build a large, active network. You are looking for leaders or people with the potential to become leaders. Some people are ready, willing and able to step up and make it happen and some people are not.

So, to the subject of attraction marketing- Yes? No? Maybe? Of course, we will always need to attract fellow marketing enthusiasts. Maybe we can place our focus on "Relationship Marketing." Not much is going to happen until we begin to build relationship. This is where the rubber meets the road. I believe that the motivation and drive behind the message we offer is often more important than the information itself as we move forward to build relationships.

The Gasconade River that flows through the northern Ozarks of Missouri is a fisherman's paradise in every sense of the expression. It is widely considered to be one of the nations best smallmouth bass streams. It is both a good place to catch and release twenty Bronzebacks, or specifically target lunker bass in the three to four pound range. The smallmouth fishing is best from the river's humble beginnings in Wright County until Jerome. There are a lot of big bass in this part of the river, and the overall numbers are ample.

The entire river also holds catfish, rock bass, and bluegill. It is a great floating stream, and has many springs that flow into it that cause it to be navigable all year. The upper river is a medium sized or even small stream, but because of the streams such as the Osage Fork River, the Woods Fork River, the Big Piney River, Little Piney Creek, and Roubidoux Creek, the river is quite large by Ozark stream standards by the time it reaches the Missouri in Gasconade County.

The river is quite different below Jerome. It slowly becomes a largemouth bass river, probably the best stream largemouth fishery in the region, with five to seven pound bass relatively routine. Largemouths tend to hold in the warmer backwaters. There are also smallmouths in the lower river. They tend to stay in the main current where the water is colder and there is more oxygen. Catfish, rock bass, and bluegill can be found nearly anywhere. Because it has so many tributaries, the lower river can be silty at times, but it usually runs clear and is pretty. The Gasconade has far too many access points to begin naming them, but suffice it to say you will have no trouble finding a place to fish.

If you go to the Gasconade, you should also think of fishing the Woods Fork, Osage Fork, and Big Piney River for Smallmouth. If you want trout, hit Little Piney Creek, Mill Creek, Spring Creek, or Roubidoux Creek, all of which flow into the middle Gasconade directly or indirectly. In all, the Gasconade is well worth the trip if you like to catch smallmouth bass. Secondarily, if you prefer use water, you can put a dye in the system. This will show up more readily if it does leak. Of course this way, the entire pipe must be exposed.

It is often difficult for an artist to find a gallery prepared to take their work.  Even if they do find an art gallery, the art gallery may restrict the number of art works hung and space or time permitted for an exhibition.  But the main problem for most newer artists is the question of being unknown.  Unless an artist is already known it is almost impossible to find a gallery willing to handle their work.  But how to become known and how to earn some income in the meantime?

Even when an art gallery is located and terms agreed there is the question of commission and sales tax which can mean that the gallery and the picture framer earn more than the artist.

 The commercial aspect of a working life in art is a difficult one to manage.  It is rare that an artist makes a reasonable living from art without having to supplement with other work such as teaching.  An artist can also attempt to raise their profile by entering competitions and with luck and talent gain prize money also.

Artists are turning to the internet to increase their audience exposure and assist in making sales of their work. 

Many on-line art galleries however have no selection criteria for work submitted and further they do not permit dedicated space for each artist.  The end result is that an artist's work does not show in any cohesive manner, unless the user already knows the name of the artist and searches for their name.

On-line art galleries can assist developing and established artists achieve increased exposure for their art work and can generate another income source for the artist by providing an alternative exhibition space that could reach a wider audience.

Some users viewing on-line galleries have no art education so to speak.  Their expectations can be solely based on price.  They often do not know the difference between original and copies (prints).  An artist, listing on-line, can expect to receive a few of the usual sort of scam propositions but these are rare in the art field and fairly easy to spot.

However despite the disadvantages of occasional nuisance, the necessity to photograph all art works and upload them to on-line gallery space, an on-line gallery is well worth considering for all practising artists.

i thing the best fly is by far a popping bass bug that have yellow over all color and black stripes, but there's a catch.
on the hook of the popper, tie a small 2 foot leader of 10lb line, on the other end of the line on the hook, tie a fly no any of these will work fine:

use the popper like a bobber, when you see it go down, set the hook, a bream or bass will be one the fly (not the popping bug). so you get the big bass and big bream (12 inch plus the biggest one i've caught on a popper was 13 inch!) on the popper, and bream and smaller bass on the fly. this rig is great for fishing bass and bream all in one throw. (you can also use a streamer instead of the popper but it will be harder to know if any things on the fly)

and for just bass a good chose is a big streamer like Zara Pup said, and for just the bream a wet fly, floating fly or, dry fly is great.

As fish has such a small amount of connective tissue, it requires very little cooking. If it is overcooked, the flakes fall apart and the fibers become tough, dry and tasteless. There are several ways of cooking fish, but the cooking process should, in general, be short and gentle. Although fillets are more popular, most cooks agree that fish on the bone - as with meat - has more flavor.

Frying -

This is a popular method, and fish can be both shallow-or deep-fried. For both processes the flesh of the fish must be coated with egg and breadcrumbs, batter, flour or oatmeal - to protect the delicate flesh. Usually fillets of fish are cooked in this way. A vegetable oil should be used (if deep-frying, the oil should only be used for fish), but a combination of butter and oil is best and tastiest for shallow-frying.

Grilling -

This methods is used for whole fish, steaks, fillets and cutlets, particularly oily fish such as mackerel, salmon and trout. The flesh is usually scored with a knife (if the fish is on the bone) to ensure even and thorough cooking. The fish should be dotted with butter to prevent it drying out. The grill should be set at a moderate heat, rather than on high, so that the fish does not dry out. The smaller the fish, the higher the grill. Line the grill with foil so that the pan and the rack don't have lingering fish flavors.

Baking -

Fish can be baked whole, brushed with butter or oil, and stuffed; they may be open or lightly covered with buttered foil for protection. They can also be baked in a liquid (milk, sauce, wine or stock).

Poaching -

This method ensures that the fish remains moist throughout cooking. The fish is cooked in a liquid, such as fish stock, wine, water or milk. which can be flavored with herbs, a little onion or lemon juice. The fish may be cooked on top of the stove in a pan or fish kettle, or in the oven. If the pan is not covered the fish should be basted frequently. The cooking liquid is usually used as a basis for the accompanying sauce.

Steaming -

The fish is cooked in the steam above a pan of simmering water. It should be placed between two buttered plates, or on a plate covered in foil to prevent the natural juices escaping into the water beneath.

En Papillote -

Fish, whole or in fillets or steaks, can be wrapped up in foil, greaseproof or cellophane with various flavorings (butter, lemon juice, wine, onion, garlic, herbs) and poached, steamed, baked or deep-fried. All the essential flavors and juices are retained making it one of the best ways to cook fish.

In our house we have a general rule that if a piece of clothing isn’t made to come out of the dryer “wrinkle-free”, it had better be an exceptional piece if you want to buy it. The same goes for the kitchen – it we can't put it in the dishwasher, think twice.

But, one thing we do enjoy splurging for from time to time is a fine bottle of wine. So naturally, one of the exceptions to the “dishwasher-only” rule is our crystal stemware and decanters, which do require some special handling to maintain their brilliance and delicate beauty. The combination of conditions in a dishwasher – the abrasive detergents, excessively hot water, hot drying, rubbing and rough motion – can cause cloudiness, scratches, surface abrasions and even cracks in fine crystal.

The simplest way to safely clean crystal is hand washing with warm to moderately hot water and a mild dish detergent. If the water is too hot for your hand, it is likely too hot for the crystal as well. Use a soft dish cloth for washing. Rinse with clean warm water and allow to air dry upside down in your dish rack. Adding a small amount of ammonia can also prevent water spots during drying.

A small amount of vinegar or ammonia added to the wash water is also recommended to remove cloudiness. In general, about one to two tablespoons of vinegar or ammonia added is recommended for about two cups (16 ounces) of water. If this does not remove the cloudiness, try soaking the item in warm water and vinegar (or ammonia) for half an hour, rinsing with warm water and allowing it to air dry. If this still does not remove the cloudiness, then you may need to purchase a crystal cleanser from a specialty supply store.

To gently remove cloudiness from the inside of a decanter, fill the decanter about half-way with the warm soapy water and vinegar (or ammonia) mixture. Add enough uncooked rice to provide a sufficient rubbing action, which may be about one cup, depending on the size of the decanter. Gently swish and swirl this mixture for about two minutes and drain. Rinse with clean warm water and allow to air dry upside down in your dish rack.

Another tip for cleaning stains from the inside of a decanter is to fill the item half-way and drop in a denture cleaning tablet. Allow the tablet to fizz and soak for a few minutes, then rinse and air dry as mentioned above.

Marketing is the lifeblood of any business and coming up with unique marketing ideas and strategies can be a re-occurring challenge. Typically many businesses rely on the tried and true methods of marketing such as flyers, brochures or newsletters. I'm sure that's what your competition is doing as well. How can you break away from the conventional and step into innovative? It's easier then you think. All you need to do is use your imagination and dare to think differently. Here are seven crazy ideas to market your personal training business and push beyond the traditional. With any luck you will leave your competition scratching their head wondering what you're doing differently.

Handout out gels with your contact information. Purchase a few boxes of gels and hand them out to people running, walking or cycling in your neighbourhood.

Target kids to meet their parents. Rent a bouncy castle for the day and host a charity barbecue. Partner with a local charity association and grocery store to help host the event. Donate all the proceeds to the charity.

Offer a free fitness in the park workout to a special interest group. Locate a special interest group in your area an offer to lead a workout in the park. Create a media advisory to inform local media about what the event.

Distribute a free towel at the end of a race. Purchase hand towels with your contact information and hand them out at the end of an event as people cross the finish line.

Wear a big button everywhere you go. Your button can say something like "ask me how I can tighten your assets" Wear it everyday. People will take notice and ask you about your button.

Start a networking group. Perhaps you have a unique hobby, habit or idea. Start a networking group that would attract these same people. For example, if you something unique reach out to other people who might collect the same thing.

Create a unique event. You can use your imagination to create any combination of events that would be out of the ordinary. For example, invite dog owners to dress up their dogs and then run a contest to pick the best costume.

Some of these ideas may seem a bit out there but that's the point. The idea is to think beyond the traditional and into the wacky and crazy. It's easier to tame down an idea then to make something as ordinary as a flyer seem exciting. The fun part of this exercise is to let your imagination soar. Don't worry if the idea makes any sense or how you will accomplish it. Just let the ideas flow naturally. Once you have a few ideas you can then go back and see if you have any gems in the bunch. Marketing is a way of connecting with your customer. The more fun you have the greater the impact it will have on your business.
